Why your appliances keep dying

Phoenix water runs 12–20 grains per gallon.

Anything over 10 is classified as very hard. Every time that water hits your heater, dissolved calcium comes out of solution and cements itself to whatever it touches — the element, the pipe wall, the inside of your dishwasher.

Independent lab testing

21 days. 176°F. The hardest water they could run.

Anyone can claim a salt-free system works. Our media was put through a DVGW-protocol comparison at an independent laboratory — DVGW is the European equivalent of NSF here in North America. Two identical rigs, same water, same temperature, three weeks straight. One treated, one not.

Untreated hard water

Calcium cements itself to the pipe wall in layers, narrowing the bore and forcing your water heater to work through a shell of rock.

Soft-Tec® treated

Stabilized crystals can't bond to the wall, and existing buildup migrates back into the water and leaves with it.

What scale does to a water heater

Cutaway illustrations of the same heater, with and without treatment. Untreated, hardness plates onto the tank floor and climbs the dip tube, so the burner heats rock before it heats water. Treated, it leaves as stabilised crystals instead of bonding to the tank.

How it works

Three stages. No salt in any of them.

Stage 1

Sediment filter

Water entering the system passes first through a high-capacity sediment filter, which catches dirt, sand, rust, and silt before they reach anything else. It protects your plumbing, and it is what stops the two stages behind it from loading up with grit.

Stage 2

Coconut-shell carbon

A 5-micron coconut-shell carbon filter takes out up to 99% of chlorine, along with the chloramines, THMs, and volatile industrial compounds that travel with it — the things you taste and smell. It also protects the scale-control media downstream and extends its life.

Stage 3

Soft-Tec® scale control

The filtered water then flows into the Soft-Tec® media bed, where template-induced crystallization restructures dissolved lime into stabilized microscopic crystals that can't bond to a surface.

Find out what's actually in your water.

A tech comes out, tests your water at the sink, and shows you the hardness number. If salt-free isn't right for your water, we'll tell you that — some well-water homes need pretreatment first, and we'd rather say so up front than sell you the wrong system.
